The author, a wilderness medicine expert and columnist for Backpacker magazine, presents the ten most common ways people bit the dust in 2007. ![]() ![]() The introduction is a great opening to the read. (Can I say again how brilliant this book is?!) And there’s even a quote about death in each chapter heading for you quote nerds out there like myself. It’s brilliant! Each chapter title is equally clever and inviting and the information is presented in a fun, yet informative way. I’d never found a volume that approached survival by discussing how to die. ![]() I was immediately drawn to the book by its clever title. ![]() Then I stumbled upon “How To Die In The Outdoors” by Buck Tilton. But reader beware! Many of these books read like a dictionary and can be somewhat monotonous and dull. If you’re looking for a good read about survival in the outdoors, there are plenty of books out there that discuss anything from poisonous plants, vicious animals, and natural pitfalls.
